Kellyn Tate comes to Puget Sound from Portland State, where she was the recruiting coordinator as well as the outfielders and hitters coach. She helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011-12.
After four years of guiding the softball program, Jennifer Peterson resigned as Puget Sound's head softball coach. Peterson has been associated with the program as a coach or player since 1998.
Seniors Aryn Grause and Chrissy Atterson each were honored on the All-NWC teams in each of their years as a Logger. Grause is a four-time selection and Atterson has earned the distinction twice.
The Lutes won 8-0 and 6-0 in the 2012 season finale. Amy Schmeckpepper went 2-for-2 in the the first game for the Loggers.
The fifth-ranked Pacific Lutheran Lutes kicked their offense into high gear to sweep the host Loggers on Senior Day.

The Logger softball team was able to raise over $500 with entry fees and donations at "Homers For Stana" this weekend.
The Loggers and Bearcats took the field on Sunday in Salem, Ore, to makeup the rainout between the two teams on Mar. 11.
With a break in Northwest Conference play this weekend, the softball team will host "Homers For Stana." All are invited to participate in the home run derby this Saturday.
Brianna Huber hit a grand slam in the first game to give the Loggers a late lead but a four-run comeback gave the Pirates a 10-9 win in game one and they rode the momentum to a 7-2 win in the late game.
Chrissy Atterson drove home five runs in the second game, including a two-run homer in the seventh but the Pirates bats got hot at the right time to hold off the visiting Loggers.
Aryn Grause had three hits and four RBI in the doubleheader, including her first homer of the season, but the Loggers fell twice in the finale of their six game road trip to southern California.
Ca Lutheran needed an improbable three-run comeback in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Loggers in the first game and used the momentum to come away with the sweep.
