Head Coach Caitlin Roberts will lead the Colonels for a sixth season in 2006. Her squad is looking to improve on its 2005 record
and with the depth of her roster, it seems likely they will be able to accomplish this. One of the goals for the Colonels for this season will be to advance to the conference championship, something the program has come close to but hasn’t reached yet. The women’s lacrosse team has made it to the CCC tournament in five out of six years of varsity competition.

This year’s roster is much deeper than it has been in the past. Twenty-two players will don the Purple & White this spring – including 10 newcomers. This year the Colonels will welcome one new goalkeeper in freshman Kerri Shaw (Arlington, MA). Roberts is expecting Shaw to be very successful in her first season as a Colonel. Freshman Gina Ranno (Wilmington, MA) will split time in net and as a defender. She will be looked upon to be victorious in net.

Taking control of the backfield will be senior Lauren Coleman (Millis, MA), sophomores Danielle Denham (Framingham, MA) and Jenna Goncalves (New Bedford, MA) and freshmen Phylicia McDonald (Medford, MA) and Shannon Krosoczka (Paxton, MA). The defense will be led by Commonwealth Coast Conference First-Team all-star and co-captain Maureen Ruane (Paxton, MA).

The midfield for the Colonels is the strongest it’s ever been. Starting in the midfield on defense will be senior captain Lindsay Lunati (Patchogue, NY) and newcomer Marisa Kenney (Framingham, MA). Freshman Patricia Horton (Cutchogue, NY) will also see time in the midfield. Midfield attack starters will be sophomore Meghan Tilley (Milton, MA) and Commonwealth Coast
Conference First-Team all-star and co-captain Emily Knight (Boulder, CO). Knight has had back-to-back 85 point seasons and is
looking to have a repeat junior year. Also playing in the midfield on attack will be sophomore Emma Brake (Kittery, ME) and freshman Laura Cluff (Wells, ME). Playing at the center position will be high school standout Nikki MacKay (Framingham, MA).

Senior Jana Williamson (Salem, MA) will lead the attack this year along with junior Jessica Nassar (Andover, MA). Fighting for a
starting position will be junior Becky Mulvay (Pequannok, NJ), sophomore Meg Gallagher (Reading, MA), and freshmen Heather
Dwan (Newburyport, MA) and Sade Barker (Bronx, NY). With 12 returning players from last season’s roster and 10 very skilled newcomers and freshmen, the 2006 women’s lacrosse team should be able to continue the recent tradition of success and possi-
bly exceed goals that haven’t been met before. The players and coaches are expecting to have a winning season.
